Thanks to Ty for his ingenious solution, we now have water tags to help gardeners when they go out of town.
These nifty posts, stored in the compost heap, can be stuck into your garden when you’re on vacation or unable to water. If you see one of these indicators in someone’s plot, please help them out! First, check the soil to see if it needs water by sticking a finger into the soil to test for moistness. Then, water as you would your own garden!
When you get back from vacation, just put the indicator back into the compost pile for someone else to use.
